Luís Sebastião

Associate Professor in the Department of Pedagogy and Education, Director of the Center for Research in Education and Psychology, University of Évora

Luís Sebastião has a Degree in Biology and Geology  Teaching (1983) and a PhD in Educational Sciences – Speciality in Philosophy of Education (2001). His primary areas of research and teaching are Fundamentals of Education, Education for Citizenship and Bioethics. He has authored books, book chapters, and articles in national and international journals within these fields. For long periods, he performed managerial functions in the University and in the public administration, namely as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Instituto Português da Juventude (1993 - 96). Director of the Department of Pedagogy and Education, where he is Associate Professor (2001 - 2009 and 2017 -2019), Pro-Rector (2002-2006) and is currently Director of the Center for Research in Education and Psycholog (CIEP). He is a member of the Ethics Committee of the University of Évora
